Animal discovery can be very fascinating for children, especially for those children who have a special gift or connection with animals. Now a days, animals have less of a presence in our communities due to hectic lives, responsibilities, lack of land and cost. Therefore, this new generation is not getting much exposure to the animal world. If you ask several children where eggs come from, they will most likely tell you the grocery store and have no idea that they are laid by chickens. I once had an inner city child freak out when I was doing an animal program for their school because he thought my white rabbit was a rat. He was terrified. This to me is a shame and also why I enjoy providing animal educational and enrichment programs to children. I feel I can make a difference and offer a unique solution to the problem.

Spring is finally here and we at Feathers to Fur have been busy hatching out chicks, (both chicken and emu chicks), bottle feeding our new lamb who was rejected by his mother, raising two litters of miniature pot bellied piglets and welcoming our new miniature horse foal (baby) into the world. We have also been working very hard on creating our new "on line” animal programs and are currently adding several new species to our selection list. These programs will include video footage as well as photographs among many other things.

Here are our new Spring Promotions, choose from our options…

Chick Hatching Program…for schools, daycares, scouts and home use. This is a complete, adaptable, turn-key program which follows the life cycle of the chicken and includes an incubation project so that the kids can not only candle the eggs and actually see the embryos as they are developing inside the egg, but also experience them hatching. They also get to keep the chicks for a week after they hatch out. This fun, hands-on, interactive program is delivered to you, set up and picked up after the 4 wk program is completed. Everything you need is provided, including curriculum, teacher guide, reproducibles, arts, crafts, other activities, a small library of chicken and farm related books and so much more. Costs can be defrayed by inviting friends, neighbors and cousins to participate and contribute towards the fee. Receive further discounts by directing friends, other centers and schools to me for booking prior to the start of your program. Receive a $50 discount if within a certain travel radius for a limited time only with this offer.

Live Bunny or Chick Enrichment Experience…for schools, daycares and home use. Your child will learn to feed, handle, nurture and care for either a bunny or chicks for a 2 wk period, conveniently at your location. Everything is provided including interesting facts and information about the species you child has chosen. This is a wonderful way to allow your child/children to experience, discover and learn about bunnies and/or chicks with a hands-on approach. Offered for $200 if within my travel radius.

Pony rides are being offered for a limited time and are limited to my travel range. Princess is our beautiful black miniature horse who is very gentle and adores kids. She is the perfect size for young children. We can also provide another pony when needed for an additional fee. Create an everlasting memory for your child on his/her birthday or for any occasion for a one hour minimum or an hour and a half minimum for those that are beyond a certain travel range. Book now and I will include bringing Princess’ miniature foal (baby horse) and a couple of bunnies for the kids to pet as a special perk, all for only $200. Get creative and book a neighborhood pony ride session with everyone contributing to the cost.
